GPU

A GPU, or Graphics Processing Unit, is a specialized electronic circuit designed to accelerate the rendering of images and video to a display. It is primarily used in computing for handling complex graphical computations and rendering tasks, making it essential for graphics-intensive applications such as video games, 3D graphics rendering, and visual effects. GPUs are capable of parallel processing, which allows them to perform multiple calculations simultaneously, making them highly efficient for tasks that can be divided into smaller sub-tasks. In addition to graphics rendering, GPUs are increasingly used for general-purpose computing (GPGPU) in fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and scientific simulations due to their ability to handle large volumes of data and perform complex mathematical calculations rapidly.
